YEAR2008 Student Competition
The Young European Arena of Research is a competition for early-stage researchers who are exploring the area of road transport within their research. The competition will give the students an opportunity to showcase their work to experts within the field, both on the web and, for the best applicants, at the Transport Research Arena conference in Slovenia in April 2008.

Truck and Bus World Forum
"The Truck and Bus World Forum" will take place from the 12th to the 14th of December 2007 in Lyon, France. This Forum, entitled "Transports for a Better Life" is co-organised by the Rhône-Alpes Region & the City of Lyon with support from the Rhône-Alpes Automotive Cluster, the Lyon Urban Truck & Bus 2015 cluster and the Automotive Sweden cluster.

European Child Safety Alliance
The European Child Safety Alliance will launch a major review of child safety in 18 countries in Europe on Tuesday, 20 November 2007. The launch will take place in the European Parliament, Brussels and will be hosted by MEP Arlene McCarthy, Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection as described in the attached invitation.

ERTRAC at EURONOISE 2006
Josef Affenzeller (AVL) presented ERTRAC and the ERTRAC Research Framework at this year's EURONOISE conference in Tamopere (Fi). Clearly, the main focus was on the noise research issues in the ERTRAC RF.

Commission adopts proposal for FP7
The European Commission adopted on 6 April 2005 a proposal for the 7th EU Framework Programme on R&D (FP7). The proposed Programme is set to cover the period 2007-2013 and features a doubling of annual budget. For the first time, a specific theme is dedicated to Transport.
