Overview of the ERTRAC strategic research agenda

SRA Full version

The complete ERTRAC strategic research agenda

With the inputs from its stakeholders and invited road transport experts, ERTRAC has developed a Strategic Research Agenda. This document will be periodically updated, and the progress of the corresponding lines of research will be monitored.

Both the vision 2020 and the Strategic Research Agenda are organised around four main streams of actions corresponding to the vision and challenges:

The Strategic Research Agenda is set in the context of the economic, societal and environmental challenges facing Europe and aims to support:

  • European economic competitiveness;
  • Quality of life of European society such as mobility access, social inclusion, safety and security;
  • The environment including reduced greenhouse gases, emissions, noise, and optimised use of resources and recycling.
All stakeholders and their organisations will contribute to defining a plan for European road transport research. This consensus based process will maximise the synergies and potential of European research resources.

On the basis of the Vision and the SRA, the ERTRAC Research Framework was defined, a more detailed guideline for road transport research in the time-frame 2007 - 2015.
