Nominate for TRA VISIONS 2024 Special Honorary Award!

The TRA VISIONS 2024 Special Honorary Award is currently accepting nominations. This prestigious award aims to honor an esteemed individual within the transport sector who has made a significant and widely recognized impact on research and innovation in their specific field of transport.

The Special Honorary Award acknowledges the outstanding contributions of a distinguished figure in the transport sector, covering various modes such as road, rail, waterborne, air, and crossmodal. It specifically targets established researchers in the later stages of their careers, either concluding or recently completed. In its inaugural year in 2022, the award was bestowed upon Rune Elvik, Senior Research Officer at the Norwegian Centre for Transport Research (TØI).

The call for nominations for the 2024 edition of the Special Honorary Award is now open to the transport research community. Individuals, groups, or technology platforms are invited to submit nominations, excluding self-nominations.

Each nomination, requiring a maximum of two pages, should provide a justification highlighting the nominee's overall impact, visionary thinking, breakthrough achievements, and track record. This includes considerations such as the impact on EU funding policy, publications, patents, and research leadership.

While candidates from all transport modes are eligible, only one winner will be selected, irrespective of the transport mode. The recipient of this Special Honorary Award is expected to have demonstrated groundbreaking vision and will be announced at TRA 2024 in Dublin.
