The second instalment of the STREnGth_M Webinar Series will be jointly hosted by UEMI and UN-Habitat. Entitled “Transport Innovation: Needs, Priorities and Opportunities in Asia, Africa and Latin America”, it will take place on 18 September 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 CET.
As cities across Asia, Africa and Latin America continue to experience rapid urbanisation, the demand for transformative transport solutions has never been greater. Urban areas in these regions face pressing challenges including congestion, air pollution, unsafe streets, inequitable access and poorly integrated transport systems. At the same time, innovation in transport offers a unique opportunity to address these issues in a sustainable, inclusive and climate-resilient way.
This webinar will provide a platform to explore regional transport needs, priorities and emerging opportunities. It will bring together experts and practitioners from across the three regions to identify practical strategies for advancing low-carbon and inclusive mobility through innovation. It seeks to:
- Identify and discuss the most pressing transport challenges in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
- Explore innovative mobility solutions and best practices being implemented in each region.
- Share perspectives on regional priorities and the enabling conditions required for innovation in urban transport.
- Foster cross-regional learning and collaboration.
The webinar is expected to generate a clearer understanding of transport innovation needs and priorities across Asia, Africa and Latin America. It will also help to identify areas where future collaboration and research could be most effective. By facilitating the exchange of knowledge between regions, the session will strengthen cross-regional learning and support ongoing dialogues on inclusive and sustainable urban mobility.
