TRIP portal relaunched

Transport Research and Innovation Portal (TRIP) www.transport-research.info

TRIP, the European Commission’s Transport Research and Innovation Portal, has announced the completion of works to improve its online information portal.

The work involved migrating the portal’s database to a more efficient and secure management system that adheres to modern best practice. Frequent users of the portal will be greeted with the same familiar layout, but will benefit from much greater control over the projects they submit via a new user interface. Improvements have also been made to the site’s search function to make it easier to find relevant information.

Justin Brock, TRIP’s project manager, said: “These improvement works solidify TRIP’s position as the hub for European transport research and innovation information. The new user interface makes it easier for users to manage and update the research projects they are working on. This will ensure the portal benefits from up to date information. It will also strengthen the link between those projects contributing to TRIP and the decision-makers wishing to gain access to the latest in transport research.”

TRIP now boasts over 7,700 research projects across 24 transport themes, which include aviation, infrastructure and intelligent transport systems. Project owners submitting project information to the portal benefit from having their work readily available to Europe’s researchers and policy makers, within an easily accessible and searchable database that receives over 10,000 visitors per month. Contributors also benefit from dissemination through TRIP’s regular newsletters and social media, which promote the latest project results.

By providing this free resource, the European Commission hopes to encourage more impactful research, building on the successes of existing findings, and enable policy-makers to benefit from sound evidence and research.
