Discover the latest update of the ERTRAC Integrated Urban Mobility Roadmap!
The updated ERTRAC Integrated Urban Mobility Roadmap is now complete and available to everyone! Building on the original 2017 version, this new roadmap offers a cutting-edge framework to address today’s most urgent urban mobility challenges.
Urban mobility is rapidly evolving, driven by advances in technology, economic shifts, societal and environmental challenges, and changing consumer behaviours. In response to these developments, the joint Urban Mobility Working Group of ERTRAC, ALICE, and ERRAC launched a collaborative effort in mid-2023 to update their 2017 Integrated Urban Mobility Roadmap. This newly released update offers a comprehensive vision for the future of urban mobility, setting the stage for optimising transport systems to meet today’s challenges and creating a path towards a more sustainable future.
The 2024 roadmap stands as a vital tool for identifying key research and innovation opportunities. It draws on the expertise of industry professionals and stakeholders, along with the extensive knowledge developed through previous roadmaps and publications by the Working Group. It also highlights research and innovation projects funded through the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programmes, ensuring the roadmap reflects the latest advancements in urban mobility.
The updated roadmap prioritises making urban transport convenient, accessible, affordable, and resource-efficient for both passengers and goods. It takes a comprehensive approach, addressing all aspects of transport systems, including users, infrastructure, services, and governance, while also focusing on the connections between urban, peri-urban, and rural areas.
A key focus is balancing increasing mobility demand with limited urban space, encouraging stronger integration between transport and urban planning. The roadmap promotes sustainable solutions, with an emphasis on active transport, public transit, and shared mobility. By assessing current trends and future needs, the 2024 roadmap provides a clear framework to guide research and innovation for a more sustainable and efficient transport system.
