Joint statement on the key role of European Technology Platforms
18 European Technology Platforms (ETPs) have published a Joint Statement: "Leveraging European Technology Platforms to boost Europe’s public and private R&I outcomes", calling for the European Commission to recognise the strategic role of ETPs in the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10).
The statement highlights the ETPs’ important contributions, bridging the gap between research outputs, innovation transfer, and societal and sectoral needs. Since their establishment in 2003, ETPs have played a crucial role as public-private multi-actor fora, aligning research priorities to address Europe’s most pressing challenges. The platforms have been influential in advising the EU and national R&I agendas, fostering collaboration across stakeholders and sectors. The active engagement of ETPs helps the objective of industrial competitiveness in addition to supporting pan-European collaborative research.
